NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY
Come try your hand
at nature photography at Rancho Lomitas. During October
and November, butterflies abound, so even the novice
photographer should be able to get some great shots. With
a bit more planning and a lot of patience, you should be able to
get shots of the scaled quail, the green jay, the Audubon's
oriole, and many other birds regularly seen from our front
patio. Presently, we have a permanent blind near our
butterfly gardens and bird feeders, and we are designing a
portable blind to allow photographers more flexibility. By
next year, we hope to have a pond on the property landscaped for
wildlife. Let us know as soon as possible before your
visit so that we can start feeding to attract the birds you are
most interested in photographing. If you are really
serious about your photography, consider staying at our RV
Park so that you have an opportunity to understand the pulse of
the wildlife here at the ranch. Understanding the needs
and habits of the wildlife is one of the keys to successful
nature photography.

This photo of a
Long-billed Thrasher is one of
the many beautiful photos taken by John English at Rancho Lomitas during the
