RANCHO LOMITAS

    Those of you who want to see birds or butterflies "on your own" can pay $5.00 per day per person and make yourself at home.  Many of the birds and butterflies at the ranch can be seen from our beautiful patio which is enveloped by both native and exotic plants.  See scaled quail, olive sparrows, ash-throated flycatchers, lesser nighthawks, pauraques, Bewick's wrens, crested caracaras, pyrrhuloxias, "Otus" the screech owl, and many others of the 136 species of birds seen at the ranch.  Click here to see the Ranch Bird List.

    During the warmer months, particularly after a rain, take a short walk around the yard and look for butterflies including Janais patch, common mestra, empress leilia, white peacock, Texas crescent, giant swallowtail, and pygmy blue among others.  Click here to see the Ranch Butterfly List.

    Bring your own refreshments as none are available.  You will find a restroom available for your use near the main house.  Please be sure to phone ahead for arrangements.
